Simulation games are a very popular genre in gaming, with the most famous series being the Sims.
These types of games allow you to engage in a computer generated world aimed at mimicking a real world system or a collection of them. The Sims series aims to replicate a persons life, where you take the role of a person and his or hers everyday living. You carry out everything a person must go through in life including daily things such as waking up and eating, as well other things such as interacting socially and getting a job. There are also games where you take on specific roles. For example in the game Operation flashpoint is a war game simulation where you take the role of a soldier and progress through the ranks as one in real life would.
Simulation games aim to provide a more realistic experience than other games, so in operation flashpoint you can die with one kill if you're not healed by a medic. Other games will have you trying to build up a business. In the game Transport Tycoon, you must build a transport business for passengers and resources. As you profit you're able to spend your money on expanding the business by building more roads and train tracks. The reverse can also happen, where you lose money and eventually become bankrupt. Years will go by as you play the game, and technology will advance. As you can see there are many types of simulation games. On this site we have some great examples including the hugely popular Bunni how we first met, which is cute little RPG type simulation where you take a the role of a fluffy bunni. Some popular time amangement games of late inlclude ones where you must carry out the daily duties of a chef in a fast food place. Papa's Burgeria is a nice little example of this type of game. There are also some farm games such as Little Farm., where you will get to run a farm business of sorts. Enjoy these games and look forward to seeing more as they are released! |
